Licensure Information
I was until 2019 state licensed in English Language Arts and Social Science (both 6-12th grades).
I successfully passed the three examinations required by the state of Florida for licensure in English and Social Studies: the Professional Education Examination, the English Language Arts Subject Area Test, and the Social Sciences Subject Area Test.
I obtained my teaching license through one of Florida's "Direct Pathways" to licensure. Specifically, I was (and remain) a full time university instructor, in my case a tenured full professor of English Language Arts Methods, Content Area Reading, and the Foundations of Education.
I have 20+ years of experience teaching English, English Language Arts Methods, Reading and Writing Across the Content, and various educational foundations courses (from the undergraduate through the doctoral levels).
Prior to my university work, I taught 10-12th grade English at Colorado High School Charter.
