I am a Professor of English Education and Reading at The University of North Florida, where I lead the English Education program. I am founder and former director of the Seven Bridges Writing Project (a National Writing Project site). I previously served as President of the UNF Faculty Association (the faculty governing body), as a member of the UNF Board of Trustees (2020-2022), and as President of UNF's chapter of the United Faculty of Florida (NEA, AFT, AFL-CIO).

I created this site to house my scholarly work; to serve as a resource for English teachers, reading and content area teachers; adolescent readers and their parents; and to highlight my work in fighting censorship.
