RESOURCES, THEORIES, & METHODS
for English Language Arts Teachers
The information below comes from slides I created for the secondary English Language Arts methods courses I taught (aka, for students preparing to become middle or high school English teachers). I include them here to serve as resources for future and current teachers.*
Please note that the slides are far from the entirety of the content covered in any given class session; rather, they are meant as ideas and points of discussion, debate, and further inquiry. Visitors are welcome to download, use, and alter them for educational purposes.
*Note that the state of Florida (where I spent the bulk of my academic career), now forces university professors to submit syllabi to a public database so that the former can monitor the latter for teaching anything the state deems problematic. This is an anathema to academic freedom. Further, it is unnecessary as such documents have always been publicly available. I have nothing to hide and therefore include the contents of my courses here--even those that challenge the "positively dystopian" state of Florida (Pernell v. Lamb, No. 22-13992 (11th Cir. 2024).
